August 20, 2010 - 3:00pm
No new fire activities reported. Firefighters, heavy equipment and air tankers are in the area. Cooler temperatures, light showers and lower winds expected to continue over the weekend, providing favourable conditions for the fire crews to successfully construct guards and specified burning to remove fuels around the fires. Only emergency vehicles have access to the road. Power remains off. Generators are running and communications (phone/internet) remain functional.

August 19, 2010 - 5:00pm
Access road to the mine site remains closed. The area between 54km and 67km affected by the wildfires was viewed by helicopter this afternoon. The fires crossed the road at certain points and had traveled approx. 10 km eastward. There are other points where the wildfires were heading towards, but had not yet crossed, the road. Power remains off pending confirmation that there is no risk the wildfires will cause power poles to burn. Some power poles have been partially burned but all power poles remain upright and functional. Based on this preliminary review, it does not appear any poles will require immediate replacement however this may change as the wildfires continue. The Forestry Dept has deployed dozers and fire bomber planes. At mine site, generators are running and communications (phone/internet) remain functional. Winds calmed during the afternoon.

August 19, 2010 - 9:00pm
The power line has been affected by the wildfires, and the mine access road remains closed. No additional information reported from the Forestry Depart. aside from plans to dispatch fire fighters/equipment into the area. A helicopter tour of the affected area is planned for today. At the mine site, generators are running and communications (phone/internet) remain functional. Current area temperatures cooled to 10 °C, light wind from west, sunny with patchy clouds.

August 18, 2010 - 2:00pm
The wildfires have now crossed the access road between 54km and 68 km. Power to the mine site has been turned off. Huckleberry is arranging to have fire retardant sprayed along the power line in the vicinity of the fire.

August 18, 2010 - 9:30am
No significant change in conditions. The access road to the mine and the power line which services the mine remain under possible threat from the wildfires. The surrounding area contains heavy smoke. Current area temperatures are cooler than yesterday with winds at 20km/hr.
