August 17, 2010

Vancouver, BC - August 17, 2010 - Imperial Metals Corporation (TSX:III) reports that wildfires burning in the area of the Huckleberry mine have forced temporary suspension of operations. The Huckleberry mine is located 123 kilometres southwest of Houston, British Columbia. At the time of this release, the wildfires are approximately 50 kilometres from the plant site. The access road to the mine and the power line which services the mine are threatened. Imperial will post updates on the situation at the Huckleberry mine on its website [www.imperialmetals.com] and will issue a news release when resumption of operations can be confirmed.

Imperial is a mine development and operating company based in Vancouver, British Columbia, and holds a 50% interest in the Huckleberry open pit copper/molybdenum producing mine in northern British Columbia.
